How many of you currently have or have had a dog in the past? How many of you are huge dog lovers?
I’m raising my hand! I am a strong advocate for Pitbulls. I own a rescued Pitbull, and her name is Roxie.
I will never forget one important memory that I have with Roxie. Here is my story:
In 2019, Roxie and I were walking around the block, and I was crying over an incident that had occurred at work. My dog usually walks faster than me and pulls her leash hard. This time, she didn’t. She strolled alongside me, following my pace. She kept looking back at me to look at my face. I was trying not to cry loudly. Roxie comforted me with her expressive eyes.
As we continued our walk, another lady was approaching with a dog. Her dog suddenly went berserk when he spotted Roxie. I told myself, “I am not in the mood to meet people and dogs right now.” Know what my sweet Roxie did? She remained calm as sat closely to me. The lady was apologetic for her dog’s behaviors and shared that he was a rescue.
I nodded and smiled. My dog sat next to me peacefully and patiently. It was that moment that I learned a great lesson from Roxie.
Roxie exemplified the person I should be!
Reader, my dear – we all have bad days, and we should embrace them. Why? Bad days help us become who we are. What I learned from sweet Roxie was to be calm and patient during the chaos!
How often do we forget that nugget of wisdom? Be calm. Breathe. And be patient. I had to learn the hard way, my dear friend.
Remember, anything that life throws at you, whether it is a person’s behavior or a task that is challenging - just breathe.
Be patient. Say it after me: “I need to be patient. Calm down. It will be okay.” Do not forget to breathe.
Breathe and smile, knowing it will be okay with time.
Love,
Ana
